Flaking tattoo
- A TAT OF CLASS

People often wonder about the changes their tattoo undergoes during the healing process.
It's completely normal for your tattoo to feel like a sunburn after it's done. After all, your artist has been working on your skin for a considerable time.
As your skin starts to heal, it initially undergoes an inflammatory reaction. Plasma (the clear or yellowish fluid) will surface, leading to swelling and activating white blood cells. Your body begins healing even before the tattoo is completed! After washing that off and applying your ointments according to aftercare instructions, you'll notice after a few days that your skin begins to flake. Don't worry!
This is the outer layer of skin healing. The dead skin will flake off, revealing a beautiful piece of art beneath! So yes, it may look unattractive for a day or three while it flakes off.
However, your skin should flake, but it should never become hot, red, swollen, or develop a thick scab. These are signs of infection. Wash your tattoo with unscented soap and water (with clean hands!) and apply ointment. You can also spray the area with rubbing alcohol. If the infected
area causes any concern, please consult a doctor!
