Frequently asked questions FAQs How much do you charge? I charge by the piece if it's smaller than 2.5 hours. (average pieces are $250-300). Otherwise, it is hourly @ $160/hour. (a 3 hour session = $542 with taxes). Usually, a 6”x6” size is about 3 hours. Full Sleeves or back pieces can be 3 sessions and up. Do you take walk-ins? No. I work by appointment only. I generally book 2-3 months ahead. How far out are you booking? I generally book 2-3 months ahead. In my busier season, 3-4 months ahead. Do you do piercings? No. I do not do any piercings. Tattoos only. Are you open on evenings or weekends? I generally have hours from 9-6 during the week but do open evenings and weekends if possible. Some holidays may alter some days available. Contact me for availability! What is your base rate? My rates start at $100. Where are you located? I am located about 10 minutes from South River (in the bush where the moose live!). I am less than 1 hour centrally from Huntsville, Parry Sound and North Bay. From the only set of traffic lights in South River, go East on Ottawa St. This will take you past Bear Chair and Swift Canoe and then across the causeway. The name changes to Chemical Rd at this point. You'll now be in the bush. Drive approximately 5kms and turn right at the first road on your right which is Boulder Rd. Travel approximately 3km and turn left onto a small dead end of Brennan's Rd. First driveway on the left.:) Watch for bears and moose! PLEASE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! NO WALK-INS. What is the process of getting my first tattoo? You can contact me via contact page here, or text or call me at (905)341-2101. We can set up a consultation if it is required and for you to meet me. If not, simpler tattoo designs can be done over text/messaging. A lot of the times, it can be done when you come in. This way, I have your direct input as I put it together. Make sure you sleep well and eat before coming in on your ink day! Bring earbuds and your music if you'd like too. I will give you aftercare instructions. Can I/should I use numbing cream? I prefer that you do not. It makes your skin rubbery and I have to work harder at getting the ink to set in your skin. As I wipe your work, the numbing cream rubs off and isn't as effective. It actually hurts more as your body/brain did not have the usual adrenaline rush to create natural pain killers (hence why tattoos are addictive!) How bad will my first tattoo hurt? Everyone is different, as is every part of your body is different. If you are afraid, start with something small. If tattoos weren't doable, people wouldn't do them! Do you do droppins? No. I am booking a couple of months out on average. I work by appointment only. Do you do tap out sessions? Yes! If you can sit for 6+ hours, your price will drop from $160/hr to $140/hr. Why do you charge a deposit? A non-refundable/non-transferable booking deposit is required to book. This ensures you are serious about your work and my time. This deposit comes off the price of your tattoo when you come in (on the final session if multiple sessions). Should you need to reschedule, please give me more than 48 hours notice so I can book another client in. If not, you forfeit your deposit. What do I do for aftercare? Proper tattoo aftercare involves keeping the tattoo clean, moisturized, and protected to ensure1 proper healing, typically taking 2–4 weeks. Key steps include washing with mild soap 2–3 times daily, applying a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion, avoiding soaking or direct sun, and resisting the urge to pick or scratch. Always follow your specific artist’s instructions, which may vary. Immediate Aftercare Leave the bandage or plastic wrap on for as long as your artist recommends (usually 2–24 hours). **Please note that if you have adverse reactions to medical tapes, that you should not use the second skin. In this case, leaving your tattoo to air is a good thing. Initial Wash: Clean the tattoo gently with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free, antibacterial liquid soap to remove plasma, blood, and excess ink. Dry: Pat dry with a clean paper towel; do not scrub or use a cloth towel. Initial Healing Phase (Days 2–14) Clean Regularly: Wash the tattoo 2–3 times a day. Moisturize: Apply a very THIN layer of fragrance-free, alcohol-free lotion or ointment (like Lubriderm or Coconut oil) to keep it hydrated. Do not over-moisturize, as this can trap moisture. Your wound needs to breathe! Avoid Submerging: Do not soak the tattoo in baths, hot tubs, or swimming pools. Showers are fine. Avoid Sun: Keep the tattoo out of direct sunlight and do not use sunscreen until it is healed. Clothing: Wear loose, clean, breathable clothing to avoid rubbing. Long-Term Care (Weeks 2–4+) Itching: The tattoo will peel and itch; do not scratch or pick it. Tap or slap the area gently if needed. Moisturize: Continue to use lotion until the skin is fully healed and no longer dry. Sun Protection: Once healed, always use sunscreen to prevent fading. What to Avoid Using petroleum-based products (like original Vaseline) as they can prevent the skin from breathing. Scratching, picking, or peeling the skin. Wearing tight clothing. Strenuous exercise for the first few days if it causes excessive sweat/stretching in the area. When to Contact a Doctor Seek medical attention if you notice signs of infection, such as excessive redness, swelling, prolonged oozing, or high fever.
